Samsung Electronics ranked No.1 in 'Net Income', No.2 in sales among Asian companies

Samsung Electronics was ranked as the No. 1 company in Asia with more than $20 billion (about 22.73 trillion won) net income last year.

It was ranked No.2 in sales revenue behind the largest Japanese company, Toyota.

Above all, Samsung Electronics is the only Asian company to reach the ‘Top 10’ in all four key indicators, which show the company's performance including sales, net income, profit ratio, and market capitalization.

According to the industry on the 24th, Samsung Electronics was ranked as the No. 1 Asian company in Net Income (Profit) in the list of ‘2020 Top 100 Asian Supply Chains’, recently published by Taiwan's IT media Digitimes.

It was ranked based on fiscal year 2020, and Samsung Electronics' net income last year was $22.153 billion (about 25 trillion won). Samsung Electronics was also ranked Asia No.1 in net income in 2019.

The largest Japanese company Toyota followed Samsung Electronics, was ranked No.2 with its net income worth of $19.1 billion. The semiconductor company TSMC representing Taiwan was ranked No.3 with net income $17.6 billion.

In the Top 10, Sony ($5.4 billion), Honda ($4.2 billion), SK Hynix ($4.1 billion), Media Group (4 billion), Hon Hai Precision Industry ($3.5 billion), Gree Electric Appliances ($3.2 billion), and Shanghai Motor ($5.4 billion) were listed.

For Korean companies, in addition to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, LG Electronics, Hyundai Mobis, Kia, Hyundai Motor, Samsung SDI, LG inno-TECH, LS Group, LG Display, and Hyundai Heavy Industries were listed in Asia’ Top 100 companies.

In particular, LG Electronics was ranked 91st in Asia ranking in 2019 based on net profit, but it significantly jumped up to 17th in 2020. LG Electronics recorded the highest sales performance with annual sales of 63.262 trillion won and operating profit of 3.195 trillion won last year, as the sales of home appliances such as Premium TV increased due to the COVID-19 influence.

In the ranking based on the last year’s Sales Revenue, Samsung Electronics was ranked No.2. Samsung Electronics' annual sales in last year were about $201.1 billion, increased by 1.7% year-on-year.

Asia’s top company which overtook Samsung Electronics in sales is the Japanese company, Toyota. Toyota’s sales revenue in last year was $ 275.3 billion, increased by 1.0% year-on-year.

Also Hon Hai Precision Industry, Honda, Shanghai Motor, Nissan, Hyundai Motor, Hitachi, Sony and Panasonic were listed in Asia ‘Top 10’ based on the sales revenue.
