The outbreak of COVID-19 breakthrough infections after being fully vaccination has continued.

By age group, the proportion of people in their 60s and 70s accounted for more than half.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 11th, it is estimated that 6,730 people who were fully vaccinated were confirmed COVID-19 on the 9th.

Those in their 60s accounted for the largest proportion with 1,860 (27.6%), followed by those in their 70s with 1,576 (23.4%). In other words, the proportion of people in their 60s and 70s was 51%, accounting for more than half.

It is analyzed that COVID-19 vaccine efficacy faded over time since the vaccination began in late February.

The number of people who were confirmed breakthrough cases in their 30s was 1,254 (18.6%), in their 50s 807 (12%), in their 40s 652 (9.7%), in their 20s 506 (7.5%), and teens 75 (1.1%).

As the breakthrough cases have continued, the government are receiving reservation for vaccine booster shot from high-risk group such as the elderly aged 60 or older, who were been six months after the vaccination, since the 5th.
