The world’s largest Ferris wheel “Seoul Eye” will be built along the Han River. Seoul will also create an art stage on the water and grandstand.
Through the facilities, Seoul aims to attract 30 million foreign tourists.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 8th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced the “Great Sunset Han River Project” when he visited the Garden by the Bay in Singapore on the 1st.
The “Great Sunset Han River Project” is to create sunset-viewing spots along the Han River. Under the project, Seoul will build Ferris wheel and art stage along Sunset Han River Line, which includes from Sangam to Yeouido, Yongsan, Nodeul Island, Banpo, Ttukseom Island, and Jamsil.
First, a Ferris wheel called “Seoul Eye” will be built along the Han River. It is expected to be built as the world’s largest Ferris wheel that can enjoy Han River’s sunset.
Currently, the world’s largest Ferris wheel is “Ain Dubai” in Dubai, which is 250m long. The Singapore Flyer in Singapore is 165m high and can accommodate up to 780 people, and the UK’s “London Eye” is 135m high.
Mayor Oh said, “Seoul Eye will be applied with high technologies. The structure must be strong due to the wind. So it is possible to make it larger than Singapore Flyer or London Eye with domestic technologies, but there will be limit for the size.”
