LS Electric said Tuesday that it has won an order for an urban railway power system project worth 266.8 billion won in Taiwan.
LS Electric was selected as a project operator of the Kaohsiung Metro Yellow Line metro power system ordered by Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City Mass Rapid Transit Bureau (KMRTB) and signed a turnkey supply contract with STEE (ST Engineering Electronics Limited), which carries E&M project.
In Kaohsiung City, located in southwestern Taiwan with a population of 2.8 million, a large-scale urban railway construction project is currently being carried out. The yellow line is a key line connecting downtown in a Y-shaped.
LS Electric was also selected as a power system supplier for the northern Kaohsiung Metro Red Line last year. It is the second time that LS Electric has won the project in Kaohsiung.
Based on previous successful project result, LS Electric plans to speed up its local business in the Taiwanese railway operation system market.
As Taiwan is expanding investment in infrastructure such as new urban railways and in projects to modernize its railway network, related markets are expected to grow significantly.
