The global super group BTS has won two awards at the American Music Awards, one of the top 3 pop music awards in the U.S., for the fifth consecutive year.

BTS won two awards, “Favorite Pop Duo or Group” and “Favorite K-Pop Artist,” at the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on the 20th (local time).

BTS won the American Music Awards for the first time in 2018, winning “Favorite Social Artist” in 2018. A year ago, in 2017, the team performed at the award ceremony for the first time as the K-pop group.

Since then, the team has won the award for the fifth consecutive year.

BTS has won the “Favorite Pop Duo or Group” category for the fourth consecutive year since 2019, beating other nominees such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin, and One Republic.

In particular, BTS has won the most awards in the category since the first ceremony in 1974.

The team also received the new category, “Favorite K-pop Artist,” this year. In the category, famous K-pop stars such as BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and TWICE were nominated.

Last year, BTS became the first K-pop artist to win the Artist of the Year award.

BTS did not attend this year’s awards ceremony. Meanwhile, BTS member Jungkook performed at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
